I often get messages and emails from a lot of you regarding Ethnic & Indo Western clothing. I absolutely understand the confusion one faces when it comes to occasion based dressing and as the wedding season approaches again it gets even more chaotic. So I decided to introduce you to one of my favourite places for everything an Indian woman would need when it comes to casual, festive or even bridal clothing!

Palanquine is founded and owned by designer Sandhya Shah, who has been manufacturing & marketing products since 1990. It is committed to deliver high quality, trendy and exclusive ethnic wear for modern women. Initially the focus was on the quintessential Salwar Suits, Ghagra cholis & Sarees but the urge to grow further initiated the brand to expand into Indo Western pieces including Evening gowns, Skirts, Dresses and much more! The finest fabrics are crafted into the most amazing designs and are then treated with finishes and exquisite embroideries, making sure whatever goes to the store and then to the clients is of highest quality.

I was introduced to the store through a friend and I was instantly hooked. The pieces were a perfect mix of contemporary & classic. I was looking at getting an outfit for a friend's Mehendi function and this anarkali and cropped jacket set, suited it perfectly. The simplicity of the anarkali with the perfect ghera and the intricate work on the jacket drew me to it. I of course had the option to get this design customized into whatever colour or style I wanted but I chose to stick to these as pastels & navy fall perfectly into the colour trends for Spring/Summer '14. This outfit would even be perfect for a sangeet or reception! I also loved the versatility of the set because I could use both the pieces together or separately.

So if you're interested in getting an outfit made for any occasion or otherwise, feel free to write to them on You could even have a look at their Facebook page for some more of their phenomenal designs and you could order them online itself! You can even find them at the Crescent Moon exhibition at Taj President Hotel, Cuffe Parade on the 27th March! I hope this helps some of you in finding & achieving that perfect outfit!
