Frankly, we discovered The Sassy Spoon while we were looking up new restaurants on zomato. Read a few reviews and decided that it seemed interesting enough to pay a visit! Moreover, while I was scanning through the pictures, he had already gone through the menu & decided what he was going to have! Located behind the Air India building at Nariman Point, the outside area is a bit shabby. But once you get into the building and then the restaurant, it's a whole new world. A beautiful outside set up with vintage looking lamps accompanied by tables of marble & cane chairs welcomed us while a lovely flight of stairs led us to the inside of the restaurant. I was instantly in love with the interiors. Huge windows, colour blocked chairs, exquisite pieces adorned the high ceiling space making it so rustic yet refreshing. We decided to take a table right next to one of the windows and 3 out of the 4 times that we've been there, we sat at the same table!
There's no one way to to define the kind of cuisine they offer but whatever it is, it's really good food! The presentation, the surprising mix of flavours and the extensive menu all keep you longing for more. This time around when we visited, we started with a Today's special appetizer made of set tomato puree and mozzarella! He skipped his favourite appetizer the Cajun spiced buttered prawns because he'd want to keep place for dessert instead. For the main course, I chose the Buckwheat pappardelle with grilled red radish, mustard greens, palm hearts, tomatoes & sumac cream on recommendation & Thank God I did because it was delicious! He went for his standard & beloved Mustard chicken with bacon, shallots & garlic spinach, which is actually on their dinner menu but they were nice enough to stir it up for lunch on that day! All of this was accompanied by some lovely wine from the extensive & exquisite wine list. Next, dessert. Their dessert menu is almost as extensive as the main menu which makes it so hard. We had previously tried the Dark chocolate & basil fondant, Raspberry & chocolate mousse so this time we decided to give the Caramel peanut tart a chance. Might I add, they are all scrumptious!
We have recommended this place to all our dinning & wine lover friends and now we're recommending this to you! It has easily become one of our go-to favourite restaurants when it comes to giving ourselves a little treat! The space, the food, the people, it's all too good to ignore for too long. So next time you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or just to snap out of a hectic day for a good, peaceful meal, we suggest you give this a go!
