If one day, I was asked to give up all my makeup and take just one thing from it, I would pick Mascara! I got introduced to this genius of a product 2 years back and I swear, since then it has never left my side. Mascara according to me is a product that instantly elevates your look. So today, I shall take you into my world of Mascara. Are you ready?

Why does one need a Mascara?
Well, who doesn't like pretty looking eyes and fluttering them eyelashes? Mascara lifts your lashes, opening up your eyes which gives the illusion of bigger eyes. I love the fact that a Mascara not only adds that perfect finishing touch to any look but it even works on it's own. There are days when I can't be bothered to do a full face of makeup so I stick to three things- concealer, a Chubby Stick and mascara. Does that do the trick? Most certainly! So if you are a beginner in makeup, I suggest you go get a mascara today and I promise, your life will change for ever.

How to apply?
Now, I know it can look a bit intimidating at first but trust me it's no rocket science. Just follow some rules to get perfect, non-clumpy lashes. When applying Mascara to your top lashes, put your chin slightly up, look straight and coat your lashes. Start from the outward end and work your way in. Where as when applying it to your lower lashes, put you chin down, look ahead and slowly coat the lower lashes. Don't worry about the weird faces you make while applying mascara, as it turns out, that weirdness actually relaxes your face which helps you to effectively apply the product without blinking too much! Use a eye lash curler for an even better end result.

What to keep in mind while buying a Mascara?
Mascara's today cater to all your needs. There are one's that focus on giving Volume, there are some which add length whereas some work on both. Waterproof and Non-waterproof options are available in almost all of them so you can pick what you want! For me, I love fuller lashes so, I am always on the hunt for a good voluminous mascara. Remember, the wands with plastic bristles will give you a more dramatic look where as a wand with natural bristles will give you a softer yet defined look. So depending on your lashes and the kind of look you are going for, pick one that suits your needs the best. However, if you're buying a waterproof mascara, I suggest you buy a makeup remover along with it!

What I recommend and use?
I've tried a lot of  mascara's till date. I usually have 4 mascara's open at any given point of time! However I suggest not doing that, as mascara's dry out within 2-6 months. Maybelline makes the best low cost mascara's! The Colossal Volume Express is an all time favourite! I've also fallen in love with their fairly new Falsies mascara. However these mascaras dry up within 2 months! On the higher end, I swear by Lancome's Hypnose Drama for a night time look, where as the Hypnose Precious Cells works great for the day. The Lancome mascara's last me for a good 4-6 months! However, my current favourite is the new Haute and Naughty Too Black Lash mascara by Mac. A few other's that I've tried before and completely recommend are Dior Show, YSL Shocking mascara, Clinique Volumized, Benefit They're Real on the higher end and L'oreal's Volume Million lashes, Rimmel's Max Volume Flash and Nyx's Doll eye mascara on the lower end!

Do try these out and let me know what you think! And, I love to try new mascara's all the time so if you have a favourite please comment below or Facebook or Tweet them to me and I'll make sure to try them!

Back To Basics (Beauty Edition) : Blush

Clinique Blush in Sunset Glow ,Sleek Blush in Flamingo, Mac Mineralize Blush in Love Thing, Mac blush in Easy Manner, Estee Lauder cream blush in Mauve Light

A blush is a must have in my makeup bag. Be it a everyday pink colour, a summer coral, an out there hot pink or a deep mauve. I need to have one for every occasion and trust me once you try them, you'll know exactly how I feel. I was a strictly only bronzer person but I'm slowly converting into a blush hoarder. Keep reading and you might end up where I am.

Why does one need a blush?
Blush is the easiest pick me up as far as makeup goes. A fresh swipe of blush and your makeup can look like it was just done. I love that natural flush look, so a soft pink blush is something you'd always find in my makeup bag! If you're using a cream blush, you can even double it up as a lip colour.

How to apply?
This is probably the easiest product as far as application goes. All you need to do is smile and apply the colour to the apples of your cheeks using a blush brush or your fingers(in the case of cream blush). Now if the colour you're using is a very natural one or a soft pink you can apply it generously but if you're using a deeper/brighter colour, make sure to use a less dense brush, hold the brush handle midway and apply the colour softly. This will make sure that you don't apply too much and you can of course build it up as per your desire.

What to keep in mind when buying Blushes?
There are two types of blushes available in the market- the Powder blush and the Cream blush. A powder blush is easy to apply and re-apply. Powder blushes blend easily and stay on for a decent amount of time. Cream blushes require some blending but look much more natural than a powder blush and they last longer too! So if you're someone who can't be bothered to touch up thorough the day, cream blush will save you. And if you're looking for even more longevity, then layering your powder blush over your cream blush will do the trick!

A lot of blushes contain shimmer. I steer clear of the shimmery blushes for the day time. So when you're on the look out for a day time blush, I suggest you get a matte one. Shimmer blushes are perfect for the night time!

As far as choosing colours goes, again knowing your skin type is a must. If you're pale skinned go for softer pinks to give you that natural flush. If you're in the medium zone, which is 80% of us, a deep mauve or dusky pink are the best suited. But being the lucky one, you can even pull off a coral or hot pink, just be careful to not over do it. As for the darker skin tones, oranges and mauves are your best friends while staying away from milky pinks is a must for you.

What do I recommend and use?
My favorite blush colour is Expresso by Nyx. It's the perfect matte dusky rose pink and looks gorgeous on my skin. I even love Mac's Mineralize blushes and my favourite is Love Thing but because it's a deeper colour with shimmer, I only bring it out during the night. Ben Nye's cream blush is Coral is a staple in my summer makeup bag. I recently discovered Estee Lauder's Cream blush in Mauve Light and it's a colour I've been using since! If you're looking for a gorgeous everyday soft pink then Mac's Easy Manner is the thing for you.
So next time you're at the mall, make sure to swatch these colours! Who knows you might find your next favourite!

I hope this post helped you! These are the products that I have tried and personally like! Feel free to tell me what your favourite products are! If you have any other questions, you can comment below or Facebook or Tweet them to me.

You could be worried about a lot of things and you may have tons to plan for the day so I decided to help you a little with what you could wear, so that you can strike off that one thing on your to-do list!

I) The Lovestruck
We all at someone point in life go through this phase where all we can think of is that one person and the only sane choice of colour to wear on Valentine's day is red! This flirty red lace dress is perfect for a romantic date with your special someone. Accessorize with simple pieces to let the dress have a moment of glory. I accessorized with a chain necklace and a spiked bracelet to add some edge to the look. I added leopard print loafers and a simple black bag to finish the look. Not only is this look super cute but it's also comfortable enough to take your through the day.

II) The Fashionista
Now there are a few of us who will never give up on our wedges, jogger pants and bold prints for anyone! And if you're one of them, this look is for you. I went for a simple monochrome base and added a bold leopard print blazer to complete the look. The heart print t-shirt is a perfect way to incorporate Valentine's day without being too out there. Finish the look with some statement shoes, I went for these white wedges. Not only are they comfortable but super stylish too. For jewellery, I wore a statement cuff with simple rings.

III) The Trend Addict
Summer is coming closer day-by-day and for those of you who want to look stylish and trendy, this looks suits your needs. Yellow, white and blue are perfect spring/summer colours. This look is perfect for a fancy date or even for a party. A statement necklace and a matching statement cuff were my choice of jewellery for this look. Neon nails, minimalistic gold heels and a polka dot clutch added the perfect finishing touch.

I hope the video gave you a few idea's for what you could wear on this romantic day! Have a lovely day and do send pictures on Facebook or Twitter to share your outfit with me!
