Day to Night in Blazers

Burgundy Blazer, Floral Blazer, Gold Sequins Blazer- Styldrv for Spring Break (a/w '12) collection, Grey tee & leopard print sandals- Zara, Blue denims- VeroModa, Metallic bag- Asos, White tank & black denims- H&M, Studded bag- Zara, Spiked necklace- Blur, Blue Silk dress- River Island, Jewellery- assorted

I love wearing blazers. Unfortunately for me, this city gives me merely 2 months to actually enjoy wearing them through the day. So as soon as it got a bit pleasant, I grabbed the chance to flaunt my new blazers. Be it a casual meeting, a friendly lunch or a glam soiree, blazers are all I've been reaching for. I would tell you how versatile they are but I'm sure you already know that.

For the first look, I paired this gorgeous on-trend oxblood/burgundy blazer with a laid back grey tee with leather patches tucked into a simple pair of denims. An overload of gold jewellery, a metallic bag, leopard print sandals and I'm out the door.

For the next look, I went for a winter floral blazer which was perfect for that quick catch up lunch. A basic tank top and my trusted black jeans with burgundy pumps was my choice of attire. Keeping the rest of the outfit basic helps the blazer shine in all its glory. I accessorized with some rose gold jewellery and a studded clutch to add some edge.

For the last outfit, I had to pick this glam gold sequins blazer. I was heading to a glam soiree and I would settle for nothing less. Paired it with a printed silk blue dress to balance the look. Finished the ensemble with a tiny gold bag and minimalistic gold heels.

I hope this video gave you a few styling ideas. And for those of you who want to buy these blazers but want to try them on first, this is your lucky week. Come visit us at our very first STYLDRV for Spring Break Exhibition being held at Lagerbay in Bandra (Mumbai) on the 15th December i.e. this Saturday! Top 5 Favourite MAC Lipsticks

L to R- Shy girl, Chatterbox, Vegas Volt, Impassioned, Russian Red

According to me, every girl needs 5 lipsticks in her life. A nude to take you through the day, a pink to brighten up those dull work days, a coral for the perfect lunch date with your girlfriends, a fuchsia when you want to look your best and a red for those glam nights. So if you're a MAC lover or you love MAC lipsticks but get overwhelmed by their wide range of colour everytime you visit the store, this list might help you make a decision.

1) The Nude
Shy girl is the perfect nude to get you through your daily routines or to balance out that sexy smokey eye for a night out. You can use it with a blush or coral lip liner to enhance the colour. I love it on it's own with a little bit of pink gloss over it.

2) The Pink
Chatterbox is one of the first few lipsticks I ever purchased from MAC. It's a red tone pink which would suit most Indian skin tones. It's an Amplified finish so the colour pay off is amazing. You must check this out if you love pink lips.

3) The Coral
MAC has a wide range of coral lipsticks but Vegas Volt is my favourite. It's a coral with pink understones which looks amazing when paired with a bronzer and a couple of coats of mascara. Whenever I feel like dressing up an outfit for the day time, this is what I reach for.

4) The Fuchsia
Impassioned is a colour that I had to literally run after. It's usually out of stock and once you own it you will know why! Its the most beautiful fuchsia lipstick. One of my absolute favourite bright lips to wear, this colour is a must have for anyone who loves a bright bold lip!

5) The Red
A girl can never do without a red lipstick. And Russian Red has saved me on various occasions! One swipe of this matte red lipstick and I'm ready to face anyone! If you're looking for that typical pin-up red lipstick,  this will end your search. It is a matte lipstick so I'd suggest you scrub and moisturize your lips well before you apply it. I do  love Ruby Woo and Lady Danger as well but this one is definitely my favourite of them all.

These are my Top 5 favourites! They are priced at Rs.990/-. Which MAC colours do you love? Do leave the names below, I'd love to check them out.

Little Black Skirt

Skirt, Shirt(diy collar tips)- Faballey, Tights- Forever New, Necklace- Aldo, Ring & Spiked bracelet- Blur, Bow bracelet- Forever21, Dangle bracelet- Accessorize, Bag & Shoes- Zara

I have been pinning leather skirts on my pinboard since the past three months. I saw a few things around but pencil skirts is not my thing, so what I wanted was a perfectly full skater skirt! This is the closest I will get to wearing leather because my city gives me merely two months of mild winter to enjoy. And this skirt fits right in. I was lucky that the Faballey team contacted me and were sweet enough to send over this gorgeous pleather skirt in black and oxblood(I couldn't decide which one I wanted more) along with a few other goodies. I love the way it fits and the length is just perfect to wear with either opaque stockings or on it's on for a night out with a sassy top. This is definitely one of my favourite fall fashion items, what's your current favourite?

Quick tip :- Wearing black shoes with tights will elongate your legs!

How To : Spike It Up

Shirt(old)- Pull & Bear, Spikes- Something Special(Bandra)

I have been loving anything  and everything with studs or spikes on it. But I don't wish to spend all my money on these trendy pieces. So, while I splurged on a few items, I had to find a cheaper alternative to deal with this obsession and hence this do-it-yourself  idea! Follow these simple steps and you can stud anything from your t-shirts to your shorts to the pockets on your jeans. So let's get started!

What you need :-

- A shirt or any basic piece
- Spikes (whatever size you want)
- A needle
- Matching thread
- Some sewing skills

Steps

1) Once you've selected the piece you want to add spikes to, select a thread in a matching colour and thread your needle.

2) I wanted to add the spikes to the pocket of my shirt. I decided to add three lines of spikes and marked the spots with a marker so that it's easier once I start sewing them on.

3) Once done with the first line, I followed the marked spots and continued with the other two. When you're done, don't forget to knot the loose end of the thread.

And that's it. That's how easy this is. I am in love with my new shirt and have been flaunting it around since the day it was done. So this weekend, grab a cup of your favourite coffee and take on this easy task!

Denim : His & Hers

Dress- Forever21, Denim Jacket- Topshop, Sunglasses & Bag- Zara, Belt, Ring and Spiked bracelet- Blur Designs,On my nails- Revlon Vixen (On him)Trousers, t-shirt & Shoes- Zara, Denim shirt- Asos, Sunglasses- RayBan

Denim is all the rage during summer but this time it's playing the role of a perfect transition piece from Summer to Winter. Now I'd wear my denim jacket at any point of the year, irrespective of it being trendy or not. But because it's a huge trend right now, S & I thought we'd give you a list of how we'd wear it!

For Her

- Wear your denim jacket with a day dress  for that perfect balance. This is my favourite way of wearing it. I chose this Tribal print dress and threw on the denim jacket with a neon bag for that pop of colour.

- Another one of my favourite ways is to wear it with a nice burgundy trouser (or any coloured pants) with a pretty top. Keep your jewellery minimal and add a huge day bag.

- And if you insist on wearing it for a night out, pair it with a nice pair of cropped trousers, a geometric print button up, some statement earrings, heels and that red pout. You could even pair it with a cute sparkly skirt.

For Him

- For that laid back day look, wear your favourite trousers with a t-shirt and throw on a open denim shirt. Add some loafers and sunglasses to complete the look.

- Another simple look would be to pair that denim shirt buttoned all the way to the top with some khaki/army green trousers and casual shoes.

- For a formal look, layer that denim shirt with a casual jacket and some fitted pants. Put on your formal shoes and you're all set to give your better half a run for all the attention.

The weekend is the perfect time for these looks! So now you know what you're wearing tonight or for that Sunday brunch.

Red Lips x StyleDrive For Spring Break(F/W '12)

Shirts- StyleDrive for Spring Break(F/W '12)Coming soon, Lipsticks- MAC's Lady Danger, Russian Red, Media

A scarlet pout is so dependable. Be it the classic pin-up red, the bright orange red or this season's favourite, burgundy. See how me and my friends are wearing three completely different shades of red in the video?! Rely on it to brighten any dull day or add that extra spark to your outfit. I love wearing a red lip at any given time of the year! But for those of you who are still shying away, now is the perfect time to start.

You can choose from a variety of red hues depending on your skin tone and outfit. Who doesn't love the classic red pout? But if you're already comfortable with that, step out and try a few other hues. A bright orange red is what I rely on for all those grey days. It's the perfect day time, bright lip. As for the nights, I've been enjoying the deeper berry shades. Red is such a classic color, not experimenting with it would be unfair. So this season go out and rock that perfect pout!

Also, if you're wondering where our shirts are from then let me tell you that you can buy them very soon as they are a part of the StyleDrive for Spring Break (F/W '12) collection! I am super excited as this one is going to be even grander. You beautiful women supported us so wonderfully last time and we hope that the new collection will blow your mind just as much. From sequins to red hues to fall florals, we have everything covered. Follow me on Facebook to be the first one to know all about the collection and for more updates!

A tip :- If you want your red lips to last longer, apply the lipstick and blot it a few times before you apply it for the final time. This will stain your lips and help the colour to stay right there for hours!

How To : Shoe Makeover

Loafers-Wanted shoes, Spray paint, glue gun and half pearls - Stationary store

Embellished shoes were all over the fall runaways. Be it the metallic heels or studded loafers, they were all seen in plenty. I don't wear loafers that often, I'm more of a sandals/ballet flats person. But embellished anything is always tempting and hence the thought of turning my loafers into something pretty so that I could at least wear them. So here's how you can upgrade your shoes from boring to 'where'd you get them?!' shoes.

What you need :-

- Shoes/ Loafers
- Gold spray paint
- Half pearls
- Scotch tape
- Glue gun / Glue
- Newspaper

Steps

1) Start of with taping off the sections of your shoes which you don't want the spray paint to ruin. I wanted to spray paint the heel and bottom seem of my shoes so I taped the shoe accordingly.

2) Hold the spray paint can a few inches away from your shoe and start to evenly spray the paint. Go slow to achieve that even, smooth look. Don't forget to lay some newspaper where you're doing this as you don't want to ruin your flooring now, do you?

3) Let the paint dry for about an hour. My loafers had tassels in the front, so I decided to take them out and spray paint them separately.

4) Once the paint is dry, take your glue gun and start placing the pearls where you'd like to. I decided to place two stripes around the heel.

5) Let that dry for about 15 minutes. And voila.

Your perfect pair of fall loafers are right in front of you. Time to go flaunt them!

Camouflage Attack

Jacket/Overshirt- Zara, Blouse- Mesh, Pants- Zara(old), Sunglasses & Shoes- Zara, Purse- Mom's, On my lips- Mac's Twig, On my nails- China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy

Whether you've been an ardent follower of this blog or you've just been casually browsing on a regular basis, you would know that my style tilts more towards the feminine side. I mean I love my jeans & pants but if you ask me, honestly, I could live in my skater dresses and flouncy skirts forever. But as they say, change is the spice of life. So every now and then I do try to pick up some pieces that are slightly out of my comfort zone or style barricades. This jacket is just one of those pieces. I saw it over a month ago and visited the store thrice before I finally made the splurge. And boy, am I glad I jumped in. I've worn it with pants and rocked it with a dress too. I look forward to wearing it more often once the humidity and heat decide to leave us alone. For this outfit, I decided to go with these burgundy/oxblood/whateveryouwanttocallit pants with the jacket because I love the contrast it creates. I added a simple off-white flowy blouse for that neutral touch and finished it off with tan shoes. For the bag, I stole my mom's vintage leather purse and I am in no mood to let go! I hope you guys enjoyed the post and hopefully, I motivated you to go buy those floral pants or that sequin dress or that velvet skirt which you weren't sure of buying, until now of course!

A date with the hairstylist

I always get surrounded by questions about my hair and I even did a blog post showing you the products I that I swear by for my daily routine. I recently visited the salon for a haircut and this time over, we decided to give you a sneak peek!I used to stick to one hair salon, but now I like experimenting and discovering new places. I get my hair cut every 4-5 months. My hair is extremely long and so sometimes I tend to have dry/split ends that I have to get rid of. This time, I even wanted to add some more layers to my hair to improve it's texture. My hairstylist used all Moroccanoil products and that just made me happier. She introduced to me to the Glimmer Shine spray, which is the best shine spray ever! A new haircut always feels good and refreshes your look. I hope you guys enjoyed the video.

How to : Collar Chain

Skull Earrings- Blur, Chain- Craft store, Shirt- Lazymanxcatshop, On my nails- Paz by Zoya

I've been seeing these collar chains all over Asos and even though I've been tempted to add some to my cart, I wanted to first, give this idea a try. This is by far the easiest do-it-yourself project but I had to share it with you! You probably have all the things you need at home and it will take you 2 minutes to transform your old shirt into something a bit more trendy. So let's begin.

What you need :-
-Stud earrings (plain or jeweled)
-Gold or silver chain
-Scissor

Steps
1) Pick out some cool stud earrings from your existing collection or from any store. I found my skull earrings at Blur and because skulls are so in this season, I decided to use these.

2) Next, measure the length of the chain and cut it according to how long you'd want it to hang from your collar. If you ask me, 15cms is good.

3)Now put the chain in from behind your earring and glue it in place if you want. I didn't glue mine because I plan to use this chain with various other earrings.

4)Pierce it through your collar and put the screw on.

And voila. Wasn't this a child's play? Too bad it didn't strike you before you saw this. Now go, try it.

Vintage love

cropped top- Forever21, Skirt- Precious melove, Shoes & clutch- Zara, Earrings- Colaba, Ring- Forever New, Sunglasses- Chanel, Belt- Mango, On lips- Mac's Viva glam Nicki

Sometimes all you need is that one trusted item in your closet and a neutral top to put together an outfit. For me, ever since I added this beautiful floral skirt to my closet, I've worn it in ways  more than one. Dressed it up for the evenings with a silk blouse and dressed it down for the day with cropped tops. The A-line style suits my body type perfectly. I added some metallic accessories to keep the outfit on trend. A statement clutch and contrasting blue earrings added some more texture to the look. A swipe of my current favourite lipstick across my face, some sunglasses and I'm off to that stylish brunch.

How To : Embellished Shoulders

I was strolling at Zara the other day when I came across this embellished t-shirt. Now I've been seeing a lot of these embellished clothes at almost every store with stones either on the shoulder or the collar or the sleeves or the neckline or even all over. Though they are wonderful to look at, I can't imagine wearing most of them for too long. But with the Zara t-shirt, I almost bought it, but then I realized that I could actually just make this myself, if not the exact same thing, something similar which would have the same effect. So here I am, sharing this idea with you! I hope you try this and save yourself some precious bucks. Let's get started.

What you need :-
- An old or new t-shirt/jumper (mine is old)
- Some stones to embellish
- A chalk
- Fabric glue or Glue gun

Steps
1) Wear the old t-shirt and mark the center of your shoulder with a chalk. This will help you in deciding where you would want to ideally place the stones.

2) Keeping the center in mind, use the chalk to mark the rest of the spots for the jewels.

3) Use your glue gun or fabric glue to securely place those stones on to the spots marked.

4) Repeat the steps on the other side. Leave it to dry over night and voila!

You will wake up with a trendy piece lying in your wardrobe and what's even better? You actually made it!

PS :- For those of you who are wondering about how to wash this? Just dry clean it my friend.

Plain & Simple

Skirt- Asos, T-shirt- Zara, Necklace & Bag- Aldo, Cuffs- Forever21 & StyleDrive, Shoes- Steve Madden

Lace & neon is such a gorgeous combination. I have started enjoying statement clothing pieces like this skirt which can be paired with a plain, simple tee and still look so glamorous. I know a lot of you refrain from wearing neon clothing and I can understand why. Pairing neon clothing with other pieces can be tricky. I prefer sticking to neutral tones like white, black or grey or a combination of these hues. Instead of playing with colours, I like playing with textures and my accessories for such a look. I went for modern gold jewelry and a tassel ladylike bag to complete the look.

Mane Concern

I have really long hair, so a good hair care routine becomes a must to maintain them, especially during the monsoon! These are the products and steps that I swear by for my mane.

Step 1- I keep changing my Shampoo & Conditioner every 3-4 months. The L'Oreal X-tenso is my new favourite! It leaves my hair soft and cleans the scalp perfectly. I wash my hair everyday therefore I prefer using a mild shampoo and this one works perfectly.

Step 2- Ever since I came across Moroccan oil, around almost a year ago, it has become a holy grail product. I apply a small amount of it everyday after washing my hair. I have stopped using all the serums & it's kinds. Moroccan oil is an organic treatment which not only tames the frizz in my hair on a daily basis but has also done long term wonders for my hair.

Step 3- I avoid using heat on my hair during the monsoon because that only makes my hair drier. But if I really have to, I would never do it without a heat protectant. The John Frieda Frizz-Ease is an all time favourite. It acts as a 2-in-1 by helping with the frizz and the thermal protection works against the heat. The Fx Flat iron spray is another amazing product. If you're someone who likes blow drying or straightening or curling your hair on a regular basis, please use a heat protectant, if you don't already. It will reduce the damage caused by the extensive use of heat.

Step 4- Mumbai's humidity makes it hard to keep my hair in place. So whenever I curl or straighten my hair, I spray on some hair spray to help it last longer.

Step 5- Last, I use 100% pure coconut oil every fortnight as an over night treatment to keep my hair healthy and to prevent them from drying. It moisturizes my hair and makes up for all the damage caused due to pollution, heat used or chemicals! And whenever I feel extra love for my hair, I book myself a hair spa!

L'Oreal Professional X-tenso Shampoo & conditioner, Organix's Moroccan Argan Oil, Keratek's Morocco Argan oil, John Frieda's Frizz-Ease, FX's Flat iron heat protectant, L'Oreal Elnette Satin Hairspray, Coco Care

TIP :- I believe using too many products can only damage your hair. So try to find the few products that work for you and stick to them. Also try using organic products as much as you can. Avoid buying cheaper hair products, instead invest in some good hair care.
